The White House says Welcome (or Happy Birthday, or Happy Anniversary, etc.)

© Cheese Curds and Kimchi
This is sooo on our list of things to do after the baby gets here! The White House sends out greeting cards that are signed by none other than the president himself (and his lovely first lady) for all sorts of occasions, including a baby's birth or adoption! What an awesome memento to have in our baby book.

Want one for yourself? You can request to receive a free greeting too!  They are only for US citizens and recognize several special events/occasions such as:
  • Wedding
  • Baby's birth or adoption of a child
  • Retirement after at least 30 years on the same job
  • Eagle Scout Award
  • Girl Scout Gold Award
  • Bar/Bat Mitzvah or equivalent religious occasion
It's pretty simple to get one, although there is quite a backlog, so get those requests in well in advance of your deadline! Send the requests via snail mail, fax, or through your US Representative or Senator. All the info you need about how to do this can be found HERE.

And to sneak a peek at a new baby welcome, check out THIS post by super-cool-mommy-blogger, Smashed Peas & Carrots.
